The Christ the King School Board includes representatives of the school parents and the parish and is subject to the diocesan policies on education. The School Board is an advisory group that provides policy direction for the educational programs of the school, to promote the implementation of said policies, and to insure that all local policies are in accord with the intent and spirit of the policies established for the school system by the Lexington Diocesan Board of Education.

Ms. Thomas graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1985 earning a BS in Accounting. She attended Xavier University in Cincinnati completing a M. Ed in Education and elementary, preschool and Montessori certification for both Kentucky and Ohio in 1999. She taught at The Lexington School in Kindergarten and Montessori. While teaching, Ms. Thomas presented at several regional conferences in both Kentucky and Ohio as well as two national conferences of the National Association for the Education of Young People (NAEYC) in New York and Chicago concerning sensory integration tips for teachers. She served as a KTIP resource teacher . In the spring of 2003, she published an article, A Question of Choice in the national magazine Montessori Life .
Mrs. Paula Smith- Assistant Principal

Mrs. Smith is Christ the King School’s Assistant Principal. She has taught grades four through eight for the past sixteen years. She has a Master’s in Middle School Education with an emphasis in Social Studies. She is currently pursuing an endorsement in Gifted Education and completing her principalship. She is a member of the National Council of Social Studies, the National Middle School Association, the Kentucky Association of Gifted Education, and the National Catholic Educational Association. She is also a member of the CKS Leadership Team.
Mrs. Smith was named as one of the top five History Teachers by the Kentucky Historical Society in 2008 and was listed in Who’s Who among American Teachers in 2007. In 2006, she participated in a Holocaust Study, which included six days in Israel. Mrs. Smith was a SACS Accreditation Chairperson in 1999, 2010, and 2011, and has been a KTIP Resource Teacher. She was a winner of the Coal Education Development and Resource Middle School Coal Unit in 1999 and 2000. In 1999, she received the national honor on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. for the National Energy Education School of the Year. She was also awarded the Alice Lloyd College Education Award in 1995.
Melissa Cashman- Christ the King School Guidance Counselor (preK-8)

Mrs. Cashman is a graduate of Christ the King School and Lexington Catholic High School. She graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelors of Arts in Education. Mrs. Cashman then taught 3rd grade for two years at St. John Vianney School in Orlando, FL. She then returned to Lexington and taught 2nd grade for five years at Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary. After receiving her Master of Arts in Education – Guidance Counseling Program from Eastern Kentucky University, Mrs. Cashman became the Guidance Counselor at Sts. Peter and Paul School for three years.
Kelan Griffin- Technology Specialist

Mr. Griffin graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Angelo State
University in San Angelo Texas in 1992. He is married with two children that
keep him busy. Prior to college, Mr. Griffin was stationed in Abilene Texas at Dyess AFB.
Mr. Griffin was a missile systems technician. He has worked the past five years for the
UK College of Law as a Computer Support Specialist. His experience was focused
on desktop and laptop support for the 50 faculty and staff, as well as 400 law
students. Mr. Griffin's goal is to make all the technology at Christ the King School work,
and he looks forward to using his skills here to accomplish that task.
