Rachel Scanlon - PreKA

This is Mrs. Scanlon's second year teaching Pre-K at Christ the King School. In 1993, she graduated from Miami University with her B.S. in Communications Education. Mrs. Scanlon taught English, Speech and Drama at Lexington Catholic High School for six years. In 1999, she “retired” for several years while enjoying the pleasure of staying home with her young family. In 2008, she was hired as an instructional assistant for Pre-K B which became a natural spring- board to her current position. Mrs. Scanlon is a lifetime member of Christ the King Parish, and graduated from both Christ the King Elementary and Lexington Catholic High School. She was married in Christ the King Cathedral in 1996 and has been blessed with three children.
Ann Roberts - PreKB

Mrs. Roberts received her Bachelor’s in Business Administration at Ohio University. She received her Master’s in Early Childhood Education and Early Intervention at the University of Dayton. Mrs. Roberts has been at Christ the King School since 2008 teaching Pre-K and Elementary Science Lab. She also taught second grade at Saint Agatha Academy in Winchester, KY from 2005-2008.
Mrs. Roberts received an ETS Recognition of Excellence Award in 2005. She was ranked within the top 15% of all test takers for the Principles of Learning and Teaching: Grades K-6 Praxis test. This indicates a high level of proficiency in an area critical for professional educators.
Tracy Cupolo - Kindergarten A

Mrs. Cupolo began her journey in education while attending the University of Kentucky. She began her career at Christ the King School in college as an extended daycare employee. While working at Christ the King School, she decided to complete her BS degree in Speech and Language Pathology before pursuing her degree in Elementary Education at EKU. She is currently working on her MAT at the University of the Cumberlands specializing in reading instruction. Mrs. Cupolo has been a member of the National Catholic Association for Education and the International Reading Association. She was also chosen for the “Coolest Teacher Award” from channel 36. Mrs. Cupolo has worked to develop the FAITH guidelines that CKS now implements into the classroom. She has helped with planning year-long themes and family night activities. She has helped to develop our upcoming athletics program, FAITH 1st. Mrs. Cupolo also serves as director of the after school program.
Sharon Preston - Kindergarten B

Mrs. Preston is the kindergarten teacher for KB. She has been in this position for the last five years. She has also taught first and third grades. Mrs. Preston graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor’s and Master’s in elementary education. She has taught at CKS since 1976.
Mrs. Preston is a member of the National Catholic Teachers Association. She has enjoyed planning and sponsoring the parish Halloween party and has served on various committees at school. The last three years she has served on the stewardship committee.
Amy Lundergan Coates - First Grade A

Mrs. Coates is starting her sixth year of teaching. She taught two years of Kindergarten before her move to Christ the King. This is currently her third year of teaching first grade. Mrs. Coates received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio. In August she will graduate with a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Georgetown College. She has received the Frankel Hall of Fame Award by Lexington Hearing and Speech School, The Top 10 percentile award for Praxis Exams.
In the community, Mrs. Coates volunteers her time to the Salvation Army and her church, Christ the King. She has two dogs, Stella and Jackson. She has lived in Lexington all her life. She attended Christ the King and Lexington Catholic, so being able to teach religion is extremely important.
Alyssa Keller - First Grade B

Mrs. Keller completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Kentucky with a major in Elementary Education. She then received her Masters in Education from Georgetown University with a specialization in reading.
Mrs. Keller began her teaching career in the fall of 1999 at Rosenwald-Dunbar Elementary in Nicholasville. There she taught in a first/second grade classroom for 5 years. In the fall of 2005, she began teaching first grade at Christ the King.
Mrs. Keller enjoys spending time with her friends and family. She has been involved with the Junior League of Lexington and enjoys volunteering at Christ the King and charities such as the American Cancer Society and the Lexington Humane Society.
Patty Schuette - Second Grade A

Mrs. Schuette attended Christ the King School and Lexington Catholic. Mrs. Schuette has a Bachelor of Education and a Masters of Education. She attended the University of Kentucky for undergraduate and Georgetown College for her Master’s degree. Mrs. Schuette has had various teaching experiences at many different schools. She taught 2 years at St. Peter School as a fifth grade teacher. While at St. Peter she was an Academic Coach for the middle school Math team as well as the Cheerleading coach. Mrs. Schuette and her husband moved to Orlando, Florida where she taught at St. James Cathedral School as a second grade teacher. While at St. James she was the head Track coach and member of the School Board voted by the faculty.
After returning to Lexington, Mrs. Schuette took a job in Bourbon County as a full time substitute in a Special Needs classroom at Bourbon County High School. After 1 year in this position, she accepted a position as the 1-2 split Teacher at Center Hill School. Mrs. Schuette began at CKS 13 years ago in second grade. Mrs. Schuette has several extra duties at Christ the King including Cross Country Coach and head of Spiritual Life Committee. Over the years Mrs. Schuette has served as faculty member to the School Board (5 years) and been the Secretary for the PTO.
Alison Matthews - Second Grade B

Ms. Matthew's is happy to be a member of Christ the King School. She earned her Bachelors degree from the University of Kentucky in communications and a Masters in Elementary Education from EKU. She began her teaching career at Saint James School in Falls Church, VA. Ms. Matthew's longed to return home to the Bluegrass state, as she is a true Wildcat fan. She currently lives in Lexington with her energetic golden/setter dog, Bella. Children are a true joy to her and often bring a smile to her face. Ms. Matthew's strives to create a classroom environment that is both nurturing and challenging. She believes that children are most successful when teacher and parents work as a team. She feels blessed to be a part of this community.
